Place value and expanded notation can be difficult concepts to teach in a kinesthetic manner. In my first year as a teacher I was given templates for place value tent cards. Year after year, they have proven to be an AMAZING way to teach place value with early years students. The students love them and do not even realize that they are practicing essential skills.
