This is Cindy from Love Those Kinders. We just finished our first full week of school and it is amazing to me that every year, I forget how much time it takes to begin again! Every year when August rolls around, my brain still seems to be in "May" mode and I need to step back and remember that my little ones in August need three times as much time to complete something as those in May! Oh well...... patience is a virtue, right?
I thought I would share 3 new resources that I created this summer...
The first is a Weather unit. I have found through many years of teaching kindergarten that even though my kinders come to school with an idea of what weather is, they sometimes have difficulty NAMING the type of weather they are experiencing. So, I created a resource that shows real pictures of weather and a student book that they can create to cement what they have learned in their heads. Hopefully this will help my little ones learn the differences between sunny, partly sunny, and cloudy!
This resource is a short lesson on the meaning of the word RESPECT. Respect for each other, for rules, and for classroom equipment is an important part of becoming a peaceful member of a classroom community!
Teaching little kids BIG scientific principals can be difficult. But as every Early Education teacher knows, little kids can learn anything as long as it is presented to them in a way in which they understand. Learning how tools help people is one of those big concepts that little kids can easily grasp. The tools introduced in this packet are everyday items that most children see everyday. I have also included PUSH and PULL tools such as a wagon, a lawn mower, and a shopping cart.
If you are going back to school this week, have a good week and remember it is August and not May! (Smile!)
